ZNF711 mutations appear to cause non-syndromic intellectual disability. The disease is inherited in an X-linked recessive fashion. So far the disease manifested only in males, whereas the females are unaffected carriers. Mutations in this gene appear to be very rare, as none were reported in any of the recent large ID/ASD gene-identification studies.
