Management

Anti-seizure medications are used in most cases. Carbamazepine appears to be effective to treat epileptic seizures in 6 patients at least. Interestingly, effectiveness of carbamazepine for movement disorders is also reported in three patients. Levetiracetam and acetazolamide are effective for seizures in a few patients. Topiramate, phenytoin, pyridoxine, and medium-chain triglyceride dietary supplement are reported to be effective for seizures in each case. A combination of topiramate and flunarizine is effective to reduce the frequency of abnormal movement in a patient.
