Treatment is primarily supportive including anti-spastic medications, muscle relaxants, and anti-seizure medication. Off-label compassionate use of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) in combination with metronidazole are the only drugs known to slow disease progression and improve the metabolic abnormalities of Ethylmalonic encephalopathy.
