DOCK7

Molecular Characteristics

The DOCK7 (dedicator of cytokinesis 7) gene encodes a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) that plays a role a key role in neurogenesis by promoting  the differentiation and transition of radial glial cells to basal progenitors and neurons. DOCK7 also regulates tangential neuroblast migration in the postnatal mouse. DOCK7 is expressed in GABAergic interneurons in the central nervous system. All the reported variations are associated with truncating in DOCK7 gene which causes nonsense-mediated RNA decay, and lack of DOCK7 protein.
